LEIBINGER Invests in a New Apprenticeship Training Center
LEIBINGER remains firmly committed to vocational training and is sending a strong signal for the Tuttlingen location. The company has invested a high six-figure sum in a new apprenticeship training center. With this investment, LEIBINGER provides young people with a solid pathway into technology and strong prospects for their future careers.
Anyone working at LEIBINGER helps shape products of everyday life. Printing solutions from Tuttlingen apply markings such as serial numbers and best-before dates to beverages, food products, and many other goods. These systems are used worldwide and are an integral part of high-tech production processes across numerous industries.
How close do apprentices get to the technology?
LEIBINGER develops and manufactures its marking systems at its Tuttlingen site. Close proximity between processes and a high level of in-house production make procedures transparent and interrelationships easy to understand.
This is exactly what benefits apprentices. Training at LEIBINGER is diverse and broadly structured, providing a solid technical foundation. Apprentices gain insights into both development and production, laying a reliable basis for their future professional careers.
Well-qualified skilled workers are of central importance to LEIBINGER. Accordingly, the standards for training are high. The program gives them strong technical understanding and remains closely aligned with practical application, while also opening up opportunities for further development within the company.
Significant investment in a new apprenticeship training center
With the implementation of the new training center, LEIBINGER underscores the importance of vocational training for the Tuttlingen site. In the future, all prospective skilled workers in industrial mechanics, machining mechanics, and mechatronics will complete their 3.5-year training programs in dedicated facilities. This required extensive renovations and the relocation of other departments.
Apprentices fully committed
Ideas quickly turned into reality. Within just a few months, the apprentices, together with the training team, implemented the new center. Walls were built, cables and lines laid, machines relocated, and a high-bay warehouse reorganized. In addition, new equipment, furnishings, and state-of-the-art CNC machines were installed.
The result perfectly reflects LEIBINGER’s training philosophy. Sebastian Wolf describes it as follows: “We rely on a training concept that promotes initiative and problem-solving skills – exactly what is required in everyday professional life. The new training center supports this approach because apprentices manage their area independently. Everyone was fully committed and actively supported the transformation.”
Sebastian Wolf is responsible for training together with Andreas Schmider. Both have been with LEIBINGER for many years and pass on their experience purposefully to the next generation.
Variety guaranteed
LEIBINGER has an exceptionally high level of in-house manufacturing. This includes a wide range of machining processes such as turning, milling, grinding, wire cutting, as well as its own sheet metal fabrication. This variety brings diversity to the apprentices’ daily work and deepens their understanding of machines and materials.
The digital working world of the future
Digitalization is a fixed component of the training program. “Every apprentice works with their own tablet, where drawings and work plans are stored. Reports and documents are created with the support of AI. Young people are digitally native, and we consciously embrace that momentum. Paper binders no longer play a role. All training content is available entirely in digital form,” explains Sebastian Wolf.
An investment in the future
For Managing Director Christina Leibinger, the decision to further expand the training area was clear: “Vocational training has always held a high priority for us. Some of our managers themselves completed their training here. With the new training center, we are creating the best conditions for the future and investing in the innovative strength of our company. To achieve this, we need well-trained young people with a strong passion for technology.”
