Optimum interaction between the mechanical and electronic systems enables the LEIBINGER LZ full monitoring system with modulus to detect every switching error in numbering with absolute reliability. The check digit is controlled by a motor, and magnets and hall sensors are used to monitor the sequence of the mechanical wheels. The central processing unit controls the modulus wheel externally, adjusting it via a servomotor on the numbering machine. For this purpose, the computer calculates the check digit required for a certain serial number within a millisecond. This significantly improves performance in discovering transmission errors in numbering documents such as banknotes, bills of lading or insurance papers.

The LEIBINGER LZ full monitoring system with modulus reliably detects the following types of errors that can occur with a purely mechanical modulus numbering machine:

 

  • Single digit error: one digit in the number is wrong
  • Transposition errors: two digits are swapped
  • Double transposition error: two groups of digits are swapped
  • Random error: the wrong digit is used in the wrong place

The LEIBINGER LZ full monitoring system with modulus uses a central processing unit to monitor the modulus wheel externally and adjusts it using a servomotor on the numbering machine. The computer calculates the check digit required for a certain serial number in less than a millisecond. The servomotor sets the modulus wheel to the digit to be printed. To calculate the check digit, the serial number is assigned a weighting. The result is a significant improvement in the detection of transmission errors.
