Register nowDue to EU regulations, plant manufacturers need to print a “plant passport” on each product. Containing the botanical name, country of origin, and traceability codes, the passport must be clearly printed on the smallest trading unit, e.g., individual plantpots and containers. The new regulations came into force in 2019 and aim to improve control of potential pests and diseases associated with “plants intended for planting” in circulation within EU territories.
With Leibinger CIJ printers, implementing complex regulations (2016/2031/EU, 2017/625/EU) is made easy. The passport can be printed directly and cost-effectively onto the product – without an expensive label – and printers can switch easily between print jobs for different plant species. Sealtronic technology ensures no clogging from dried ink for maximum productivity, and our printers use a variety of durable and fast-drying inks for all kinds of surfaces, including plastic and clay pots, stock cards, wooden pallets, cards and boxes, and shrink films used as outer packaging. Pigmented inks can also be used for greater contrast against darker colored materials with our JET3up PI.
